Firewood and Timber

As part of our ongoing forest management plan, we sustainably harvest hardwood trees from the Weston forests to produce firewood. Most recently we have been treating a series of 10 to 12 acre woodlots in the Highland Street Forest culling damaged or unhealthy oak, red maple, and birch trees. What remains are stronger, straighter and more commercially valuable trees which will continue to grow for another 10-15 years before they are either culled or harvested. By staggering the cuts, we allow for the continuation of the forest’s canopy and other ecologically beneficial aspects. This is a more intensive and costly way to produce forest products, but results in a more resilient and ecologically diverse forest. Land’s Sake is committed to these principles of sound environmental management.

Each fall, Land's Sake sells local, seasoned firewood. To place your order, please use the form below. Members receive a discounted stacking rate. To become a member, please click here.

If you have questions about our timber harvest project, please contact us. We offer tours of the woodlots for interested folks to come out to see our work. These tours are noted in our events calendar. We also invite volunteers to come out and have fun splitting wood with us the old fashioned way!
