Grow With Us

THE LAND'S SAKE FARM CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

A two-phase Capital Campaign focused on increasing efficiency, reducing reliance on neighbors, and creating a more sustainable farming model with the goal of better serving the community. Phase one was completed in the summer of 2022. Phase two is currently in progress with a goal of being complete by the end of 2023.

With the addition of permanent structures and utilities, the Grow with Us campaign will allow us to expand our growing season and education programs, increase our food production, give more produce to those in need, and better serve our community. This 40 acre masterplan focuses on increasing efficiency, reducing reliance on neighbors, and creating a more sustainable farming model with the goal of better serving the community.

SUSTAINABLE APPROACH

A net-zero energy goal will not only allow the farm to function responsibly as a model of sustainable farming, but also sensibly by minimizing operational costs.

We are committed to create a model for sustainability that will not only stand in alignment with the farm’s goals but enrich our educational programs. The buildings will utilize traditional timber framing, rainwater collection and reuse, renewable energy from photovoltaics and other strategies that lower their impact on the site and environment. The goals of the site development are to protect all existing trees and cultivated fields by reinforcing existing site paths and connections.

PHASE ONE

*Successfully completed summer of 2022!

TIMBER FRAME BARN  currently serving as a temporary farmstand and will transition to a year-round animal barn and education center once our new farmstand, which is part of phase two, is completed.

GREENHOUSE  now providing year-round vegetable production. (Previously all of our greenhouses were located off-site.)

HOOP HOUSE  now aiding in the year-round vegetable production and providing additional space for growing.

UTILITIES  including water, power, and telecom are now accessible at the farm. (We previously relied on our adjacent neighbors for electricity and barn space for coolers and summer program animals. Our water connection was only available above-ground, limiting cold weather use.)

PHASE TWO

(currently in the works)

YEAR-ROUND SUSTAINABLY BUILT FARMSTAND  The 3,800 square-foot net-zero, energy-efficient building will be built using CLT (cross-laminated timber) and serve multiple purposes. A permanent covered space for vegetable processing will eliminate the need to transport produce, minimizing food waste; additional outdoor seating and gathering spaces for patrons to enjoy; and an outdoor classroom to provide educational opportunities for all ages.

NEW EQUIPMENT BARN   to built in the back of the farm offering better storage and allowing the team to work on equipment on site.

ANIMAL BARN   to be established as our education center, offering year-round animal programming and housing. (The barn is currently serving as our temporary farmstand.)

CURRENT STATUS PHASE TWO: FARMSTAND

We are at almost 80% of our total fundraising goal! Help us make our vision a reality.

A new year-round farmstand will be created on the existing footprint. The 3,800 square-foot net-zero, energy-efficient building will serve multiple purposes and offer flexibility to fit the changing needs of the farm. Key to expanding the functionality of the farm, the farm stand will house permanent covered space for vegetable processing as well as walk-in cold storage directly adjacent to CSA and produce displays eliminating the need to transport produce, minimizing food waste. The front of house space can expand and contract with the growing season and will enable the farm to serve the community year-round with produce, a coffee station and demonstration kitchen.

DEMONSTRATION KITCHEN  for community cooking, fresh from the farm meals and education programs & workshops

SOLAR PANELS  placed on the roof to offset energy use.

PROPER FOOD HANDLING & STORAGE  including refrigeration, a root cellar and an on-site wash station for proper food handling.

ENHANCED PUBLIC SEATING   inside and out - along with a coffee bar for patrons to enjoy.

ARTISANAL PRODUCTS  for purchase.

STAFF OFFICES  (currently off-site interrupting a cohesive work environment)

Special thanks to Payette, 2019 AIA Architecture Firm Award Recipient, for their pro bono architectural services.

Leaving your legacy at Land's Sake Farm adds your name into farm history and helps us get closer to completing Phase 2 of our Capital Campaign. Inscribe a personalized name, message, or tribute on a meaningful landmark that lives on the farm. Examples include having your name engraved on a rain garden river rock, having a plaque placed on a picnic table or special bench, or honoring someone by having their name placed on a plaque in our education garden, bunny hutch, or chicken coop. These make wonderful gifts! Proceeds benefit Land’s Sake Farm and our Grow with Us Campaign.

PROGRESS TIMELINE TO DATE

Thanks to the support and contributions from our generous community. We wouldn't be here without you!

With help from community members like you, the Grow With Us capital campaign for Land’s Sake Farm has been able to bring year round water and electricity to the farm, and build a greenhouse and barn (currently serving as our farmstand) on site. This new infrastructure helped the farm grow more food for our community and those in need, run more programs and bring us all together more often as a community. Support from our donors and volunteers is critical for reaching our goals!
