Make a Difference – Help Provide Fresh, Local Food to Those in Need
Food insecurity among low income families and senior citizens in Massachusetts is higher than it has ever been. Food prices continue to rise and many seniors have not had the equivalent increase in their annual income. Recently rates have been fluctuating between 21% to 26%, and as of July 2023, an estimated 23.7% of MA households with children are facing food insecurity. The rising costs of housing and other basic needs, like food, are factors that can likely be attributed to the rising rates of food insecurity.
Charitable food donations have been a fundamental part of Land’s Sake Farm since its start more than 40 years ago. Each year, the farm donates 30% of the produce we harvest to our hunger relief partner organizations--such as food pantries, shelters, and food access programs--so that they can distribute our produce where it is needed most. Our partners include Food for Free, Lovin’ Spoonfuls Food Rescue, Boston Area Gleaners, Rosie's Place, St. Julia's Parish, the Newton Food Pantry, and the Weston Council on Aging. To date we have donated more than $1.3 million dollars worth of produce to those in need. Learn more on our Hunger Relief page.
The majority of food that hunger relief organizations receive is packaged and processed. We are uniquely positioned to ensure that people who are food insecure have access to fresh food. Last year we donated 50,000 pounds of produce to those in need, the equivalent of 150,000 servings. With your help, we can share our bounty and feed even more people the healthy, fresh food grown at Land’s Sake Farm.
CHIP IN FOR A CHANCE TO WIN A HARVEST GIFT BASKET!
For a $50 donation, receive a "Harvest Buck", which you can enter to win a gift basket of your choice. Your donation helps fund important farm operations and preparation for next season - including tractor repairs and tune-ups, cooler modifications, tool sharpening, truck maintenance, new batteries, and much more.
